In fact, Nicaragua has become a hot spot for people who want to learn the Spanish language. However, in addition to time spent in the classroom, with a host family, and on special sightseeing ventures associated with the school, it is also important to learn about the different activities this beautiful place has to offer.

- Granada – The city as a whole is one of the most important cities of Nicaragua also a wonderful place to visit. The city is quiet small though, so there are many horse carriages, which are considered a main form of transportation; and walking is just great. Most of the buildings are the old colonial style, which are charming and calming. In recent years, Granada has been slowly being restored to its former grandeur. There has been an increasing number of foreigners moving in the city, renovating old colonial homes and igniting the tourist industry. In all of Nicaragua, Granada is ranked as the most important city to see.
- Small Islands – In Lake Nicaragua, there are many small islands, 365 in all. These islands are breathtakingly beautiful and reached by small boat from Granada small ports. One particular spot that you do not want to miss is called Fort San Pablo, a magnificent fort that was originally build as a means of having protection of the City of Granada from bandits and pirates.

You will find every type of shop possible but those where pottery and other wares are made by locals is most impressive. Surely, there would be something that captures your interest and then you have to remember the family and friend souvenirs.
- Dining Out – The food options in Granada Nicaragua is mouthwatering delicious, both national and international restaurants are in a good number already. In addition to the main course, you definitely want to try at times the local drinks made from cacao and corn called Tiste and Atoles. And of course, no Nicaraguan meal would be complete without dessert such as Maduro en Miel and Bunuelos en Miel.
- Convent San Francisco – While in Granada, the final recommendation we want to make is the Convent San Francisco, a definite place to see. This is an old convent designed with massive halls. There is a gallery of idols made from stone that came from the Island Zapatera in the Lake Cocibolca and the pre-Columbia art gallery filled with beautiful displays. The exhibits are wonderful and the convent has a surreal feel about it, one that takes you back in time.
